I photographed a wedding Katie stood up in a couple years ago. When Gary had popped the question she contacted asking if I would photograph their Wisconsin wedding this upcoming summer. I responded saying of course I would and added, “if I had a lot of extra cash laying around I’d offer to fly out to Japan to photograph your engagement shoot.” She responded with a “well… here is what we are thinking…”. A couple years ago Katie took a job teaching at a navy base out in Japan which lead her to meet Gary, a boy from California. When she started talking about flying me out there I was hooked. I grabbed a travel buddy and made a two week trip out of it. The first week was spent playing around in Tokyo (awesome!) while the second week consisted of photographing their engagements shoot over several days. Japan is beautiful. Katie and Gary are wonderful, a joy to photograph and, in all honesty, tons of fun to hang out with. Here is a small overview of our week photographing their love in Japan.
