During the slow season for wedding vendors, we tend to come together to create something that sings to our souls. While San Luis Obispo offers so many amazing wedding venues, there is something magical about beach wedding ceremonies right here on the central coast. I got married barefoot on a beach on the other side of the country—there is something extra emotional when saying “I do” while you can hear waves crashing just a couple feet away. This inspiration shoot was inspired by that iconic California golden glow and the salt air of local sleepy beach towns.
Vespear Resort had been trying to market and highlight offerings of small intimate wedding ceremonies and it was instant love at first sight. Vespera has an abundance of midcentury elegance with a slight nod to a Nantucket vibe, all while showing off one of the best views of the Pacific in Pismo Beach. Surfers catching waves, tourists walking along the pier and boardwalk—Pismo Beach is a gem of a destination wedding location for anyone searching for a slow, laidback sleepy beach town vibe without sacrificing glam. I paired up with Kay of Bundle and Bash as we designed a small intimate wedding ceremony that I hope gets recreated someday. An asymmetrical Pampus Grass ceremony installation with wooden slat chairs, a reception table within a protected boardwalk area of the resort, invitation suite designed with watercolor wave elements, all perfectly woven together with the natural and relaxed environment of Pismo Beach.
It was really important to me that we found a real-life couple to be our stand in Bride and Groom. You know me, I don’t like the stale posed images you see everywhere… I want connection and romance. I want real gazes and stomachs that fill with butterflies, EVEN if the wedding itself wasn’t real. Kristen and Christian were the perfect match. This inspiration shoot was a labor of love and each vendor showed up and brought their strengths and dreams to life. I hope you enjoy our intimate, sundrenched Vespera Resort Wedding in Pismo Beach. xoxo
