Growing with the families that you got to witness from day one, when they promised forever and said “I do,” and seeing the two of them grow to a family of three, or four, or seven… it’s extra special. You have seen Matt + Megan’s engagement, their wedding, and last year when lil Elliott showed up into the world; even though we no longer live in Colorado, returning and seeing these three is sooo good. It’s been an honor to watch them grow and now see them as parents. And Elliott is a hoot! She is frickin’ adorable. Spending time with the Strongs is good for the heart.
When you are getting your family photos taken, it’s easy to focus on the three (or however many you are). Kids will always steal the show and you definitely want to remember every lil facial expression they make, the way they call your name, the way they hold your finger, the way you think it’s cool to fall backward while you are holding them and then laughing uncontrollably. Being able to make tangible memories of these things are priceless. One thing I do want to say though, even with the babies running around, and just like any marriage, make sure the two of you take time to just be the two of you. Being purposeful in taking random date nights when amazing friends or family members can take the kids and you two can just go be you two. This is also true with your family photo shoot. Take time during your session to just get photos of the two of you, sans kids. You won’t regret it. And I promise you, years down the road, your kids will treasure those images just as much as you treasure theirs. It’s true.
