I’ve been photographing this family before there were three of them. And every time I get the honor of having them in front of my lens, I fall in love with the three of them and my job more and more.
Growing up, I moved around every 2-4 years. I never lived in the same state for more than 6 years at a time, and that 6 years never ment the same town. After moving from Colorado eleven years ago and landing here in the Pismo Beach area… I have been able to experience this magic of connection and following the legacy of people in the beginnings of their dating lives… witnessing and documenting their engagements, weddings, first pregnancies, raising babies… and watching those babies turn into really awesome kids. It is such an honor and it blows me away every time I have their photos in my hands, when they return to me year after year, when the kids know my name because I’m talked about when they look at their photos sometimes. There is something so wildly special about the families that always add a slot in my calendar… it leaves me with all the feels and a massive smile. Just grateful and so honored.
This was the first time taking a family up to Johnson Ranch Loop and it was SO fun. Being able to be silly, playful, and run a muck on the top of this hill with views like this… I love this spot. Cows are often in the distance (or… close by) which is a great distraction sometimes for kiddos. The marine layer sometimes creeps over the hills as the sun begins the set. And the shadows that begin to dance and create depth in the surrounding hills and the sun begins to dip has made this area so dreamy to photograph during golden hour.
Krisstin + Cole — I love you guys. Thanks for raising an awesome kid and showing up to these sessions with so much play and open hands as we capture the connection the three of you have together. It’s so special and always a blast.
