One of the things I love about this industry is it brings people into your world that rock your socks off. Before I get too in depth and you begin gawking at this stunning destination Punta Cana wedding, I need you to know that I was there as an assistant to the lovely and oh so talented Candice of Candice Benjamin Photography.
About a year and a half ago Candice and I switched places. She moved to Colorado. I moved to California. We have been second shooting for each other since as we both still have weddings in the other’s state and I am so grateful for the friendship we have built over this time (seriously, she is one of my favorite people). She sent me a text last August and all it said was “How willing would you be to fly to Punta Cana with me next May?” No brainer. “Very willing” was my response. And it just so happens that this wedding is for another amazing photographer Kiersta Sze who is out in Portland. Both of these ladies are worth knowing and being inspired by.
Everything about this wedding is stunning and so genuine. My time in Dominican Republic was so much fun and definitely goes down into the books. We stayed at the RIU Palace and it’s a resort I would return to in a heart beat. The beaches were lined with coconut trees (if you know me, that one fact alone makes me ecstatic). We stayed at the resort an extra full day, which allowed us to lounge, burn and drink yummy drinks. Kevin and Kiersta’s family and friends were so lovely and were so good to us. It was such an honor to help photograph their wedding story along side Candice. Here are a few of my shots from the day (of course, with Candice’s permission to share). And please head over and check out her full blog here. Enjoy!
